Jodie Padilla is Director of Data Science of Girls In Tech Ecuador, scientific researcher at the Institute of Research and Innovation of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil, member of a Committee of Experts on Innovation in Spain, Editorial Board Member in the United States, opinion writer in the first newspaper of Ecuador, international speaker and historian of his ancestor Matilde Hidalgo Navarro (de Procel) passionate about writing, teaching, social work and studies of gender equity and innovation.

"Team Matilde" honors the legacy of Matilde Hidalgo

He grew up in a home that allowed him to question his surroundings and develop in different areas, regardless of whether or not she was a woman; He later realized that it was no accident, his development was marked by the teachings of his great-aunt, great grandmother Matilde Hidalgo Navarro (de Procel), the first woman to vote in a national election in Latin America. Since he has been aware of his life, he has dedicated an important part of his professional practice to keeping his legacy alive, hence the "Team Matilde" entrepreneurship created in 2017 was born with the purpose of honoring the social, political and professional trajectory of the first doctor of medicine in Ecuador and the first woman to achieve a civic conquest of women in the country.

A postgraduate lecturer at the Catholic University of Guayaquil and a scientific researcher at INECEM and the University of Buenos Aires, her research focuses on female leadership, innovation, and digital transformation. She holds a postgraduate degree in higher education in economic sciences from the University of Buenos Aires and a Master's degree in Innovation from the University of Valencia. She was a scholarship recipient representing Ecuador at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where she earned a Project Management for Results Practitioner certification. She is a member of the competitiveness research team in Ecuador affiliated with Harvard Business School and directed by Dr. Carmen Padilla.

Jodie is a member of the innovation expert committee in Valencia, Spain. She is an Advisory Board Member of the US magazine Global Business Review, the outgoing Director of Global Shapers Guayaquil, the World Economic Forum's youth community, and the Research Director of Girls In Tech Ecuador, based in San Francisco.

Founder of "Team Matilde," a social campaign to raise awareness about the legacy of Matilde Hidalgo de Procel, her great-aunt, the first woman to vote in Latin America, and the first female professional and scientist in Ecuador; an organization that has won international awards and alliances.

She is an advocate for greater female representation in leadership positions, and as such: (1) she is the first Ecuadorian member of the World Economic Forum's Innovation, Digital Transformation and Gender Parity Network, and (2) she is the first Inspira Leader in Guayaquil, a program of the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador. She is the co-author of the book "The Profile of the Ecuadorian Leader" (2019, UCSG Publishing House) and a current columnist for the newspaper El Universo. She received the Climate Reality Leader designation after training in climate action with former U.S. Vice President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Al Gore.

His main awards include:
(1) International recognition "Distinguished Lady of Guayaquil 2021" by the Municipality of Guayaquil and ODAEE, (2) "Young Leader creating a better world for all" at the Women Economic Forum 2020, (3) first place in the "Share Your Voice" Global Writing Contest by Girls In Tech San Francisco, which emphasizes volunteering, academic excellence and activism; and (4) participation in the Davos 2021 meeting, the annual assembly of the World Economic Forum, becoming: the first Global Shaper from Ecuador to attend, the youngest Ecuadorian in its 51 editions and the only Ecuadorian in the 2021 edition.
