"Matilde Hidalgo de Procel" Vice President's Room
On February 7, 2021, the Vice Presidency Conference Room was inaugurated under the name of Matilde Hidalgo de Procel. This management moves us family, friends and followers of Matilde's life because it represents an achievement for the benefit of new generations, a vindication of a figure forgotten in time and an example of the importance of public management, especially since the sphere where the decisions that define the direction of an entire country are made.
During the solemn and private session - due to the pandemic and because it was Election Day - it resulted in an intimate space where each of the feats of this Ecuadorian pioneer was appreciated and taken for granted. The event had the participation of:
Mrs. María Alejandra Muñoz, Constitutional Vice President of the Republic of Ecuador
Mrs. Rosalía Arteaga, Former President of the Republic of Ecuador
Mr. Julio Bueno, Minister of Culture and Heritage
Mrs. María Dolores Montúfar, General Secretary of the Vice Presidency
Miss Jodie Padilla, relative of Matilde Hidalgo de Procel
Miss Carmen Padilla, relative of Matilde Hidalgo de Procel
Mrs. Claudia Arteaga, Executive Director of Fundación FIDAL
Mrs. Patricia Cepeda, Director of Cultural Management of the Presidency

Vice President María Alejandra Muñoz delivers the resolution to Jodie Padilla Lozano.
Intervention by Jodie Padilla
After receiving the Official Resolution, Jodie Padilla, founder of Team Matilde, offers a few words to the attendees as a descendant of Dr. Matilde. We rescue some phrases:
"If we must applaud the work of Matilde Hidalgo, we must rescue
-
His desire to improve with continuing education at all stages of his life,
-
Your resilience and faith in difficult times,
-
His innate altruism in treating and healing the underprivileged,
-
Your companionship and sisterhood to raise the bar at the country level,
-
And mainly his vision of a diverse, equitable and inclusive country "
I am the product of the noblest gesture that one person can make for another, I am the granddaughter of the orphaned nephew that Matilde and her brother Antonio took in to give him education, responsibilities and a purpose in life. Today I am a scientific researcher like her - although I in leadership, gender parity and innovation - and that is how I invite you to keep Matilde Hidalgo's legacy alive, I encourage more women along the way and I repeat ad nauseam what she once told my mother Carmen Lozano Delgado: 'Knowledge it is power, study because that is how the final triumph is to be expected with all success'".

The Vice President's words are captured in the official video, and you can read more about her agenda for the day at this link:
